About Us
Dynamic Frontiers is the current incarnation of TourismResearch.com, a site created in 1998 by Gordon and Michele Titchener to:
Engage people in a discussion of tourism and its impacts
Enhance the quality of tourist experiences in destinations
Enable communities to use emerging information technologies
This is complementary to Gordon’s work as a professor of tourism management at Thompson Rivers University, where he teachs courses in Consumer Behaviour, Competitive Strategy, Globalisation, ICT and Research Methods.
Based in New Zealand/Aotearoa from 1998-2004, Gordon helped form the Rotorua Sustainable Tourism Charter, a network of small businesses committed to improving the quality of life for residents and visitors. Gordon is a certified Green Globe 21 consultant. He has also convened and organized several international conferences including Islands of the World III in Nassau, Bahamas, the Healing Waters Conference on Spa and Health Tourism, and the 2004 New Zealand Tourism and Hospitality Research Conference.
Michele is the technological expert and graphic artist here, and is a pioneer in the use of the open source learning management system Moodle.
She followed her M.Sc. research in epidemiology with instructional design assignments at Bow Valley College and Waiariki Institute of Techology.
Michele is currently working with a variety of GPL software packages including Moodle, Wordpress and phpBB.
